All businesses that employ staff could do with a pep up at times. When it is literally all work and no play, not only does this make Jack a very dull boy, it also makes the workers frustrated and a tad bored at times. A good business event would be known as team building and the very best – lasting & memorable, thus successful, are those that are really well planned and organised. Taking the age, genders and capabilities of participants is critical. It’s no good taking a bunch of fifty-five years old on a sledging or snow walking expedition for example. Within half an hour of joining the venture, there would be a couple of dozen with broken hips, knees and other small joints and that would put them out of action for weeks. Not a good example. In the main, businesses will book via a corporate agent who has access to all kinds of ideas and venues available to hem. Th organiser will often have taken a degree in hospitality or event organisation. The best idea is to take the 5 Ps in Planning: Product; Price; Place; Promotion and People. If you cover each of those in turn, there’s no way your event will fail. Activities don’t have to be strenuous, they can involve an element of brain use – especially good if the teams involve older workers. This is very often the way to show the youngsters that the older colleagus are worth keeping – when they get the answers right in any quizzes!
